Practice with me!  Sit upright quietly for a few minutes and watch the movement of your body with each breath. Do you notice your shoulders rising and falling? Is your chest or abdomen expanding outward?

Now let's practice deep breathing. Place one hand on your chest and the other on your abdomen. Breathe in until the lower hand moves outward being sure that the hand on your chest does not move. How do you feel? Relaxed? Lighter? After a few times, you may actually feel as if the breathing is actually more difficult due to weak core muscles. Continue to practice deep breathing daily and it will become easier. By practicing deep breathing daily, we cultivate resilience and embrace the full potential of our breath.
